Martin Swainston has spoken out against the revised application to redevelop Croft House in Hurworth Place. The previous plans involved converting Croft House into flats, with new houses built in the grounds. No doubt because of reports of a downturn in demand for flats, Yuill have now re-submitted plans which involve the demolition of Croft House and its replacement by more new houses.

Martin is angry that this development is to be built on the River Tees floodplain, and is so close to the historic Croft Bridge.

The official position is that Yuill Homes have lodged a new application with the Council to redevelop Croft House, 2 Tees View, Hurworth Place.

The proposal is to demolish Croft House and to build 19 new dwellings with associated roadways, drainage and landscaping.

The Planning Reference number is: 08/00250/FUL. The plans can be viewed in the Customer Service Centre in the Town Hall.
