Fred Lawton at the problem crossing

Pedestrians beware! Your Lib Dem Councillors are treating very seriously reports that some motorists are ignoring the red light at the pedestrian crossing on North Road, next to Holwick Road.

Pedestrians have set off to cross the road and narrowly avoided an accident when cars have sped through the red light, travelling north. This has happened a few times.

Fred Lawton has spoken to the police and the Council about the problem. The Council have thoroughly examined the traffic lights and report that they are working properly.

Car numbers of the offending vehicles have been passed to the police. They won't be able to prosecute without more evidence but the vehicle owners have been visited by the police in their homes.

Residents are worried that there may be certain conditions where the lights are not clearly visible. If this happens to you, let the police know immediately.

Please also tell Fred Lawton or Mike Barker, who will monitor the situation.

Above all, please take extreme care when crossing at these lights.
